Frequently asked questions

What is BitRoot?+

BitRoot is an early-stage accelerator and pre-seed fund based in Cairo, Egypt, built by founders for founders. It backs AI-native and technology startups from Egypt and the wider MENA region with capital, a Cairo BuildCamp, a three-month accelerator and an operator network.

Who can apply to BitRoot?+

Technical, AI-native founding teams that are past the pure idea stage: something in market, early users or customers, and a real problem they keep working on. Egypt-based teams and MENA founders building for the region are the core focus. Applications are open to founders in FinTech, e-commerce and other AI-driven categories.

When is the application deadline?+

Gen 0 applications close on October 15, 2026 at 23:59 Cairo time. There is no rolling intake for Gen 0 — one deadline only. Gen 1 opens in 2027.

How much funding does BitRoot invest?+

Up to $250K across first and follow-on funding for top performers, plus VC-readiness preparation and investor pitch support for local, regional and global venture capital.

What happens after I apply?+

Selected teams join a six-day, in-person BuildCamp in Cairo in early November 2026. Full attendance is a condition of acceptance. BuildCamp is followed by an Investment Committee decision, then a three-month accelerator focused on commercialization and scaling, beginning end of November 2026.

Does it cost anything to apply?+

No. Applying is free and takes place through the BitRoot application form.

Do I need to be in Cairo?+

BuildCamp and the core accelerator sessions run in person in Cairo, so founders need to be able to attend in Cairo for those dates.

Who mentors BitRoot founders?+

Operators, not lecturers — 40+ founders, operators and investors who have built, scaled and exited companies in Egypt and the region.

How can I become a mentor or partner?+

Mentors dedicate two to three hours per week for three months, twice a year. Partners and collaborators support portfolio companies with workspace, infrastructure, GTM support and growth resources. Reach out at build@bitroot.ventures.
